Effect of the Fabrication Method of Chlorophyll?Ti ₃ C ₂ T _<i>x</i> ?Based Photocatalysts on Noble Metal?Free Hydrogen Evolution

Composites composed of a chlorophyll-a derivative and Ti3C2T x MXene recently showed promising results as photocatalysts for the hydrogen evolution reaction. Herein, this type composites is prepared by using layered material via an HCl@LiF etching technique, instead previously adopted HF technique. The performance H2 evolution, therefore, fourfold increase in photocatalytic system, compared with reported data our previous works. underlying reason such large improvement chlorophyll-MXene photocatalyst would be attributed to more suitable surface chemistry, higher conductivity, fewer defects, area, larger interlayer space introduced Li+ ions from LiF process. it revealed that preparation method MXenes used cocatalysts key improve efficiency water splitting.
